SERBO-MONTENEGRIN AND INDONESIAN SOCIETY OF FRIENDSHIP
UDRUŽENJE SRPSKO-CRNOGORSKOG I INDONEŽANSKOG PRIJATELJSTVA

On the initiative of His Excellency Mr. Ladjuris, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Serbia and Montenegro, for the first time in its long history after the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Montenegro in 1955 a society of friendship called Serbo-Montenegrin and Indonesian Society of Friendship “NUSANTARA” (Društvo Srpsko-Crnogorskog i Indonežanskog Prijateljstva “NUSANTARA”) was set up and registered at the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro on 1st July 2003. under no. 2/067/2-2003-06.
For its first Chairman the Society has elected Prof. Dr. Miodrag Trajkovic, former Ambassador of SFRY in Indonesia (1982-1986) with two vice-chairmen.
First members of the Society of those who, by any means, have been in contact with Indonesia and/or Indonesians - on business, as diplomats, trade representatives etc… have supported this initiative and offered their full support and cooperation.
The objectives of the Society :
· to help maintain, preserve and enrich traditional friendship between Serbia-Montenegro and Indonesia based on the principle of mutual respect and benefit for both countries.
· to safeguard and develop traditional good relations and friendship between Serbia and Montenegro and Indonesia which have been successfully maintained for quite a long time, exactly, since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1955.
· to help establish cooperation in the fields of social, art, education, culture, sports and others, contributing to the strengthening and developing political and economic relations and cooperation between the two friendly countries.
· to organize activities in the fields of art, culture, sports, education in order to encourage and increase people to people contacts as a bridge contributing to the development of bilateral relations of the two countries as a whole.
· to help stimulate and encourage individual and collective creativity and initiatives contributing toward the promotion of relations and cooperation in all fields of culture, art, sports and the similar which might be of mutual interest.
