He graduated 1974 in Faculty of Social and Politics, University of Gajah Mada, Yogyakarta, majoring in International relations, and completed Junior, Mid-Career and Senior Foreign Training Courses at Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Indonesia in 1975.
